Terms of Service

The rules of using Roov — what we do, what you agree to, and how disputes work.

Draft

This page is a working draft — the substance is what the product does today, but the final wording is pending review. Contact support@roov.africa if anything here contradicts what you were told in-app.

About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Roov platform — the roov.africa website and the Roov mobile apps — and any related services. By creating an account or otherwise using Roov, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Roov is operated from Nigeria and is subject to Nigerian law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

Who can use Roov

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use Roov. Property managers must have the legal right to list the properties they publish.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

What Roov provides

Roov is a marketplace that connects house-hunters with property managers. Roov itself does not own or rent the properties listed. Roov is not a party to any lease or rental agreement between a hunter, tenant, and property manager.

Roov reviews every listing before it goes live but does not guarantee the accuracy of information a property manager publishes. Always inspect a property in person before paying.

Payments and fees

Payments made through Roov are processed by Paystack. On payments processed through Roov, the platform retains a service fee (currently 30% of the transaction) and remits the remainder to the property manager via a Paystack subaccount split. Roov does not hold your funds.

See the Payment Policy and Refund Policy pages for the specific rules that apply to your payment.

Content you post

You retain ownership of the photos, videos, descriptions, and messages you upload. By posting content on Roov, you grant Roov a non-exclusive licence to store, display, and distribute it within the platform for the purpose of running the service.

You must not post content that is illegal, misleading, hateful, or that infringes anyone else's rights. See the Content & Media Policy for specifics.

Prohibited use

You must not use Roov to list properties you don't have the legal right to rent out, to scam other users, to circumvent Roov's fee structure by moving transactions off-platform, or to violate any applicable law.

See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full list.

Account suspension and termination

Roov may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, misuse the platform, or fail to complete verification. See the Account Suspension Policy for the specific triggers and appeal process.

You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. See the Account Deletion Policy for what happens to your data.

Dispute resolution

Disputes between you and another user (for example, a disagreement over a caution deposit refund) should first be raised through Roov's dispute resolution process — see the Dispute Resolution Policy. If a dispute involves Roov itself, it will be resolved under Nigerian law with jurisdiction in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Changes to these terms

Roov may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are announced in-app and by email. Continuing to use Roov after a change means you accept the updated terms.
